Although it was first celebrated in 1621 by the Plymouth colonists and the Wampanoag Indians to celebrate the autumn harvest, Thanksgiving wasn't declared a national holiday until 1863 by Abraham Lincoln. Since then, Americans gather around the Thanksgiving table on the fourth Thursday of November; in 2024, Thanksgiving will be on November 28, and in 2025, it will be November 27. Known as a time for family, traditions, and food (and the kickoff of Black Friday shopping), Thanksgiving is a perfect time to share your gratitude and blessings with loved ones.
